Wordless Wednesday: TLT (Tempeh Lettuce and Tomato)

tempeh lettuce tomato

I made this sandwich on Sunday at around 10 AM. We'd been out for breakfast (and newspaper reading) and as per usual I'd eaten potatoes, toast, fruit and tea. Not a horrible breakfast but one completely without protein. As a result I was really damn hungry by the time I got back home. Then that night I had a dream that I was begging the cafe where we eat breakfast to make me vegetarian sausages. Dear Ottawa, please some day have a restaurant that offers a proper vegan breakfast and opens early on Sundays. Thank you.

I don't even bother going out for breakfast, unless it is into downtown Chicago where there are real options. However, that's a 40 minute drive which usually necessitates a pre-breakfast for the road. Not ideal for sure! Aaanyway, I'd eat that sammie any day. Not to toot my own horn, but I seriously recommend you try this veg bacon, it is a game changer!! http://www.ordinaryvegetarian.com/2010/11/vegan-mofo-7-amazing-homemade-vegan.html

I think vegan breakfasts are the most difficult thing to come by when you're eating out. Here in Regina we actually have a restaurant that serves a tofu scramble on their Sunday brunch menu! ...It's not really flavorful, but hey, it's progress!

haha "the fruit plate"! I hear you about the breakky spots in ottawa... how many bakery choices do we have? Me..I just head to bridghead for coffee and the vegan granola cookie - quite an addictive combo.. Also, can't wait to check out Sadies Diner in Toronto, never knew it existed until I saw it on your blog- something to look forward to!

I saw your tweet about vegan nutella and thought you should know that Metro's house brand is vegan!

I've thought about Cafe My House, but we eat between 7:30 and 8 AM! Maybe some time if we get up later!
