Vegan Mofo Wordless Wednesday: Comfort Snack!

snacky

In keeping with my Vegan Mofo theme of comfort food, here is one of my favourite after-work (or, you know, at work) snacks. Where you come from do they call it "Ants on a Log"? Because that's what I call it, and I don't even remember where I first heard that term used. Matthieu The Administrative Assistant saw me eating this at my desk the other day and claimed that he had never in his life seen anyone eat celery with peanut butter. I told him he needs to get out more.

I've heard that name used before, and definitely ate those as a kid.

Granted, that was about a week ago...

That is what we call it in our house. My kids love it! We use sunbutter and chocolate chips though....my poor kiddos have a lot of allergies.

use to do that with Cheeze Whiz.
May try it with vegan cheese...

I use to do that as a kid when I was little! Except no raisins, for some reason I can only eat raisins in oatmeal cookies.

We called it ants on a log, too! I'm surprised your coworker never heard of this before; I thought it was THE ubiquitous healthy kid's snack! (Maybe he isn't American, though?)

Sometimes my mother would use cream cheese instead of peanut butter, which I liked better. Tofutti cream cheese just doesn't have the same effect, though...

I love anything that can serve as a carrier for peanut butter -- this is probably more healthy than the spoonful of peanut butter with chocolate chips thrown on top that I've been known to inhale!

Somebody has never seen anybody eat celery and peanut butter?! What? I don't know what hurts me more...the fact that he doesn't know or the fact that he hasn't tried it!

I can't wait until my girls are both old enough to munch on celery because I'm going to make them ants on a log all the time!
