Apparently, all it takes is vegan ice cream.
I found this box of Tofutti bars at a giant Asian supermarket that has recently opened in our city. Its contents swing from incredibly vegan friendly (freezers full of non-dairy fruit bars, tofu ice cream treats, and every kind of fake meat you could ever want) to very un-vegan (pork, pork, and more pork). The Man of Science got excited about the prospect of sweet and sour vegan "chicken" balls, like we used to eat at Chinese restaurants when we were kids. This may be a project I will have to attempt in the near future.
At any rate, you are getting this amusing photo of strangely marketed vegan treats instead of a recipe today because I am on my out of town for work for two days and I will not be cooking anything until the end of the week. If I eat anything interesting, I will report back, but I think it might just be oatmeal in the hotel room again.

I love these bars... There is a chain of 24-hour grocery stores around the GTA that often carries these, which is perfect for those middle-of-the-night-I-need-frozen-soy-ice-cream-product-covered-in-chocolate cravings!
The package is hilarious (and adorable - how often are jewish weddings shoots available in your grocer's freezer?) And if memory serves, there's a pretty cute little explanation of "Marry Me" on the side of the package.
Guess their marketing worked on me, eh?
Awww I am SO jealous right now! There are not many vegan treats here in Saudi. We've got some Amy's products, a few types of tofutti cream cheese and sliced cheese, some veggie burgers and that's it. Notice I didn't mention ANY vegan ice cream? That's because there isn't any. NONE. I haven't had vegan ice cream in more than 2 years. Don't worry, we just ordered an ice cream maker, it should be here soon and life will change for the better!
haha, I love the names Tofutti gives to its products. I love their Yours Truly vegan ice cream cones.
Haha! What a fun sassy package!
They do look very happy.
ah marketing. ah, vegan treats. they can even make the queer straight and the lame walk. how do they taste?
That packaging is something else!
I do NOT like the Tofutti, but I'm obviously going to have to go back to the giant Asian supermarket because I didn't see any fake meat there at all -- just scary animal bits.
These look so good but the package design makes me laugh. I'm going to be stopping in Ottawa for a few days in May and might have to pick some up. Which Asian grocery store carries them?
